On May 15-16, 2010, the new orders for the Danish Andersen children's clothing line for the autumn and winter season were held at the Shanghai Jinyi Studios. This event attracted hundreds of Andersen representatives from across China, who gathered to witness the launch of the latest collection. A special highlight was the participation of Mr. Bai Mushen, the former Danish Ambassador to China and a key figure in the Danish Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.
Mr. Bai Mushen, seated on the podium, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to blending high-end design with the timeless charm of Andersen’s fairy tales. The collection incorporated modern Danish aesthetics while integrating elements of Chinese culture, resulting in a range of premium yet affordable children’s wear that resonated with local consumers.
The fashion show featured adorable young models walking the runway, accompanied by Chen Lin, the chairman, and Mr. Bai Mushen. The theme of this season’s collection was “Fairy Tale • Color,†showcasing vibrant and dynamic hues that brought warmth and joy to the cold winter months. From colorful princess dresses to imaginative designs, each piece aimed to transport children into a world of fantasy and creativity.
The event also highlighted innovative use of soft pastels, unique cuts, and stylish silhouettes, reflecting contemporary trends while staying true to the brand’s heritage. Dealers from all over China attended the live catwalk in Hall 3 of the Jinyi Studios, where the vivid display became one of the main attractions.
As the music played, the models moved gracefully down the runway, their outfits reflecting a mix of pop, fashion, and playful styles. Flashing lights and upbeat rhythms created a lively atmosphere, making the entire event feel like a celebration of childhood.
During the order session, the designers presented two major themes: “The Little Mermaid†and “The Ugly Duckling.†These iconic stories were reimagined in the new collection, with detailed explanations about the style, fabric composition, and functional design elements to help franchisees better understand the product line.
New products were compared with previous collections, featuring richer fabrics and more fashionable materials. However, the inner lining still used natural, soft cotton to ensure comfort and safety for children. The designs were bolder, incorporating influences from British, Korean, and European styles, making the collection more trendy and diverse.
“The Little Mermaid†tells a tale of love, sacrifice, and the pursuit of dreams. Despite her struggles, she remains determined and selfless, showing that the journey itself is as valuable as the destination. It’s a story about perseverance and the strength found in pursuing one’s goals.
“The Ugly Duckling†is a reflection of Andersen’s own life, symbolizing growth and transformation. Though initially different and misunderstood, the duckling eventually becomes a beautiful swan. It’s a reminder that no matter how difficult life may seem, with courage and effort, one can overcome challenges and achieve greatness.
Every child deserves the chance to dream, to strive, and to believe in themselves. Through hard work and determination, they can grow into confident, independent individuals—just like the swan that once was an ugly duckling.
