In the 1980s, vis-à-face focused its attention on the market for a wider range of women's apparel by virtue of its solid strength.

David Perrin, the third generation head of the vis-à-face family, met Ivan Ho during the fine arts history at the Royal College of Art in England. The two were sympathetic and became good friends. In the early 90s, after Ivan finished his studies, he went to Milan to become the design director of Italy's third clothing brand Stone Haven. In 1996, Ivan invited his friend David Perrin to take over as vis-à-face design director and develop the Hong Kong market. In order to adapt to the oriental fashion culture, the famous fashion designer Deng Dazhi was invited as the design consultant for the Hong Kong branch.

In 2006, vis-à-face planned to develop the Chinese mainland market. At a fashion party, David Perrin and Ivan met David Wong, a well-known image guide in the mainland and Hong Kong fashion circles.
